Abstract

Postprandial lipemia is characterized by a rise in triglyceride-rich lipoproteins after a high fat meal. Prolonged existence of increased plasma triglyceride during the postprandial period has been suggested to increase the risk for cardiovascular disease. Postprandial lipemia is associated with inflammatory factors, oxidative stress and vascular dysfunction. Regular aerobic exercise attenuates postprandial lipemia via decreasing in triglyceride secretion by the liver and increasing in plasma triglyceride clearance by the muscle and vascular dysfunction following a high fat meal. This review will summarize recent findings regarding the effect of exercise on postprandial lipemia related vascular dysfunction.
